Hong Kong: McLaren’s ‘Longtail’ is the utmost expression of strength, performance and exhilaration. The legacy of the Longtail began in the 1990s, when the McLaren F1 GTR swept to victory at the world-famous Le Mans at the first attempt; it evolved into one of the most important race cars in modern motorsport history. Officially unveiled in Hong Kong today, the McLaren 600LT is the lightest, most powerful and quickest model to join the Sports Series.
Built to perform, the car delivers the ultimate thrill and marks the beginning of a new chapter in McLaren’s Longtail story. “The 600LT is a testament to McLaren’s unwavering commitment to producing the ultimate supercars through pioneering design and ground-breaking engineering. As ‘The Edge Is Calling’ suggests, the 600LT pushes driving performance to the absolute edge”, says Charlotte Dickson, Head of North Asia McLaren Automotive Asia Pacific. “We are delighted to reveal the 600LT to the Hong Kong public and to display it amongst memorabilia from McLaren’s longstanding heritage in such a historically prominent location as PMQ.”
At its debut at Le Mans in 1995, the closest opposition behind the McLaren F1 GTR was nearly 30 laps behind. It evolved to become one of the purest race cars in history, the ‘Longtail’. The first model appeared in 1997; it resembled the distinctive stretched silhouette of the McLaren F1 GTR. The 600LT encompasses all features of a top of the range supercar; McLaren have well and truly revived the ‘Longtail’ name.
The 600LT’s aerodynamic carbon fibre bodywork and dry weight of 1,274kg allows for blistering acceleration, reaching 0-100 km/h in 2.9 seconds. The 600LT is also fitted with McLaren Senna inspired brake boosters to ensure precise and phenomenal stopping power: 200km/h to a standstill in just 117 metres. Positioned alongside the Super Series 650S, 675LT and 720S, and the Ultimate Series, P1 and P1 GTR and Senna, the 600LT joins the McLaren Sports Series range, which comprises of the 540C, 570GT, 570S Coupe and 570S Spider.
The McLaren 600LT breathes new life into the Longtail range. The innovation behind the 600LT demonstrates McLaren’s unprecedented commitment to the seamless design and production of their bespoke supercars. Priced from HKD$3,729,000, deliveries of the McLaren 600LT will commence in Hong Kong in late 2018. Should you have any queries, do please contact McLaren Hong Kong.
